Jiveworld is a valuable resource for language learners at the intermediate level and above who have encountered the "sound barrier" - where the language they've learned in the classroom does not match what they hear in everyday life. Jiveworld draws on captivating stories from Radio Ambulante, an award-winning podcast that showcases stories from different parts of Latin America. The stories are divided into chapters and accompanied by the innovative Jiveworld player, which provides assistance and guidance when needed, while allowing learners to navigate independently.
If you only have a few minutes each day, Soundbites is a great option. These bite-sized lessons present a question or challenge based on an audio excerpt from a complete story. After listening, learners can tap "reveal" to check the answer and gain deeper insights into the challenge. Soundbites go beyond simply relying on a dictionary; they explore language and culture across eight dimensions: Idioms & Sayings, Speech & Accents, Useful Patterns, Vernacular & Slang, Strategies, Grammar, Vocabulary, and History & Culture.
